Hey Garden(ers),

Cinco de Mayo may be over, but the celebration of Mexico fighting against French invaders, had us wanting to honor the little known history of Amelio Robles Ávila. While he was not around for the 1862 fight against the French, he was around in the early 1900's fighting against the Spanish during the Mexican Revolution. Born on November 3, 1889, in Xochipala, Guerrero, he fought as "el coronel Robles" with the Zapatistas from 1913 to 1918. In a time where our history of fighting for our lives, and our communities, is actively being erased, we want to take every opportunity to remind each other of those who came before us!

For those wanting to share a performance, workshop, game and/or offering for Summer Solstice😎, make sure to get your volunteer forms in ASAP as we are starting to plot out our schedule. We will be joined once again by the lovely ASL team at Heartsong Interpreting and Day Passes will be available for non-Garden members!
